SSI, SSDI, and SS recipients, railroad retirement beneficiaries, and certain disabled veterans will receive a one time $250 payment under ARRA. This $250 will not be counted as income int the month received and will not be counted as property for the following 9 months. Beneficiaries must report the $250 and provide verification. [Download]
ARRA provides for a Federal Stimulus increase to both regular and extended Unemployment Benefits by $25 a week. This increase will be exempt income. Beneficiaries must provide verification that the extra income is in fact additional Unemployment Compensation Benefit payments. [Download]
Certain retirees who were Federal or State employees may receive a tax refund or credit under Title II, Section (§) 2202 of the ARRA. This credit or refund will not be considered income in the month of receipt and will not be considered resources for the two months following receipt. [Download]
On May 1, 2009 new limits for couples in the A&D FPL go into effect. Because the SSP is decreasing on May 1, the A&D FPL couples limit will decrease as well. Welfare and Institutions Code, Section 14005.40 requires that the A&D FPL be the greatest of Supplemental Security Income/State Supplementary Payment Payment Standard or 100 percent of the FPL plus $310 for couples. On May 1, 2009 California’sSSP Payment Standards will be reduced back to 2008 levels. The Couples income limit for the Aged and Disabled Federal Poverty Level program will be reduced to $1525.
